It is with sadness that we share the passing of Joseph Clarence Mouledoux on February 11, 2025.  Joseph was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on December 13, 1926 to Clarence Anthony Mouledous and Margaret Carmen Vaughn.  From an early age, he was raised by his adored Aunt Mae Mae and Uncle Joe. Dear brother to Betty, Joyce, Richard, and Carmen.  Joe is predeceased by his beloved wife, Elizabeth (Crawford). 

Joseph served with the US Merchant Marine Service during the Second World War.  On his return, he attended and graduated from Louisiana State University with a degree in Sociology with a focus on Criminology. He later received his PhD from the University of Kentucky.  During the 60’s, Joseph and Elizabeth spent many summers leading projects for the American Friends Service Committee providing aid to communities in need. In 1968, they moved to Westmount, Quebec to settle into professorships at Concordia University. During a weekend excursion they fell in love with the Eastern Townships where they first purchased a property in Fitch Bay and then later retired to Georgeville. 

Joseph will be remembered by those who knew him for his love of fishing, poetry, and books.  He engaged in deep, often spirited conversations, and held strong principles throughout his life.  His favourite pastime however, was corresponding and spending time with his extended family. He is survived by his children, Rhea (Gilles), Mark, Catherine and Lisa (Greg).  He was a proud Grandfather to Rebecca (Rob), Sebastien, Jessica, Andrew, Emily (Léopold), Matthew, and Ethan and to his great-grandchildren Nicholas, Naomi, Kate and Auslyn.  His nieces, nephews and friends were also dear to his heart.

A memorial for Joseph will be announced at a later date. Donations are not requested, but anyone who wishes can make a donation in his memory to the Community Association of Georgeville.

C'est avec tristesse que nous vous annonçons le décès de Joseph Clarence Mouledoux, le 11 février 2025. Joseph est né à la Nouvelle-Orléans, en Louisiane, le 13 décembre 1926, fils de Clarence Anthony Mouledous et de Margaret Carmen Vaughn. Dès son plus jeune âge, il a été élevé par sa tante Mae Mae et son oncle Joe. Il était le frère de Betty, Joyce, Richard et Carmen. Précédée par son épouse adorée Elizabeth (Crawford).

Joseph a servi dans la marine marchande américaine pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale. À son retour, il a étudié à Louisiana State University, où il a obtenu un diplôme en sociologie, avec une spécialisation en criminologie. Après, il a poursuivi un doctorat à l'University of Kentucky. Pendant les années 60, Joseph et Elizabeth ont passé de nombreux étés à diriger des projets pour l'American Friends Service Committee, afin d'aider les communautés dans le besoin. En 1968, ils ont déménagé à Westmount, au Québec, pour s'y installer en tant que professeurs à l'Université Concordia. Au cours d'une excursion d'un week-end, ils sont tombés amoureux des Cantons de l'Est, où ils ont d'abord acheté une propriété à Fitch Bay, et par la suite à Georgeville.

Ceux qui l'ont connu se souviendront de Joseph pour son amour pour la pêche, la poésie et la lecture. Il s'engageait dans des conversations profondes, souvent animées, et a défendu des principes forts tout au long de sa vie. Son passe-temps favori était cependant de correspondre et de passer du temps avec sa famille grandissante. Il laisse dans le deuil ses enfants, Rhea (Gilles), Mark, Catherine et Lisa (Greg). Il était un fier grand-père de Rebecca (Rob), Sebastien, Jessica, Andrew, Emily (Léopold), Matthew et Ethan, ainsi que de ses arrière-petits-enfants Nicholas, Naomi, Kate et Auslyn.  Ses nièces, ses neveux et ses amis étaient également chers à son cœur.

Une cérémonie commémorative en l'honneur de Joseph sera annoncée à une date ultérieure. Aucun don n'est demandé, mais toute personne qui le souhaite peut faire un don en sa mémoire à l'Association communautaire de Georgeville.
